I think, Halsin vanished in my game too - and it's HM. It's inconvenient, because I wanted him to be taken by Orin, since I don't want Gale or Lae'zel taken and Mintahra is my tadpole slurper. At least we saved Oliver and Thaniel beforehand, so the Shadowcurse is lifted.
If I try to access the inventory of the companions in camp, he shows up though.
Edit: I found him again - it seems, now that he leaves his tent to Minthara, he sometimes wander to the outer parts of camp.
