First off: this is not a Gale hate thread! I love Gale.
Second: Sorry if the answer is somewhere obvious, I googled it six ways from Sunday and all I found were a bunch of threads about uh, parting with Gale at different points in the story, and in uh, less savory ways than this.
But I'm doing an Astarion Origin playthrough now and Astarion finds Gale super irritating (it's canon!!), plus Astarion is very self-serving, and (mid Act 1 spoilers)
now Gale just told him about the orb, and thanks to Gale responding to an in-party comment by Lae'Zel, the silly wizard has now flat-out said in front of Astarion that he is now the greatest threat to all of our lives. Not kidding, that's exactly what he said, those were Lae'Zel's words and Gale was like, "Yep, I wasn't before but now I totally am!"
Astarion is a survivor and a me-first kind of guy especially at this point in the story, there is no WAY he is letting a walking bomb hang out in his camp. Gale even painted a lovely picture of how he can "resolve" the situation in the Underdark, and Astarion does not like him enough to care
. So I had no choice but to have Astarion say, mkay good luck with that somewhere very far away from us, see ya.
Let's leave aside how sad I will feel not having that doofus tagging along nerding out about everything he sees, and how I am missing a whole questline now - I can handle that. I have completed his questline twice now. I don't wanna play the same game every time, and this sure is... not a way I've played before. But I would like someone to spoil me as to any negative repercussions of sending him away mid Act 1 (besides no Gale) that I may not be aware of, before I get much farther into the game.
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO RELOAD.
So tell me... what have I set into motion here? Anything unbearably bad?
