Oh how cool it would be if the group interactions were as you suggested!
But let's just say someone in your party just poured their heart out to you, and you're feeling overwhelmingly jubilant that they've finally come around after sidelining you for so long. But then what? You just have to wait until the next tick when something happens? Really? They just confessed something exceptionally heartfelt, but then they're just going to keep on as usual? Really? Once you've made that romantic connection, things need to develop as though it's more than just a milestone to the next scene. Have them seek out your company more; You share your tent with each other now; when you travel they're right beside you, possibly holding hands; they seek your advice more often (lower DC rolls? New personal quests?). Something... And when this individual continues on just as they always have, it just makes it seem a bit less intimate.
+1000! That's what was in my fantasies during the playthrough. Unfortunately in the game you can't even hug your loved one during some of their heavy plot points, walking around holding hands is probably too good. In the same Elf Song, it could have been made so that you and your LI could share a bed and have their stuff lying beside it. Or that Tav could choose LI's tent instead of a sleeping bag while camping. It would be realistic and make the game feel more alive.
