Funny you said that Gal, my Mum after several births (incl me, believe it or not ) had rather Huge mammaries and said once to her Doctor "Sheesh I wish they where smaller" to which the Doctor promptly answered "Don't ever say that, there are plenty of ladies in this world that would love yours"

Funny how thoughts like that pop into your mind ..... I must have been all of 14-15 years old when she told me that story and believe you me that was a long time ago

I think the one with the beard and the hairy chest must be Womble . Can you blame Merendrious for falling in love? Look at him with his puppy-eyes...

In Potsdam : Look from a great bank to the "Gut Bornstedt". You can buy things local farmers produced there. It belongs loosely to the overall environment around Schloss Sancoussi - a Schloß (or Schloss) is a kind of castle, but smaller, often younger and more developed towards beauty than "real" castles of the middle ages, which were rather developed towards safety.

[Linked Image]

The "Neues Palais" is actually behind my back so you cannot see it.

During the time it was build the French language was common among aristocrats in Germany and in Europe in general.

The look you see goes towards the real "Schloß Sancoussi", along a "road" - it's broad, yes, but not allowed to be used by any kind of motor-driven vehicles - throgh the big, great, massive park which lies between both "Schlösser" (Schlösser is the plural form of Schloß) - the "Neues Palais" ("new building" , roughly translated) is just one of several Schlösser in that area.

Schloß Sansoussi was originally called "Schloß Cent Soucis" or so, because it was expensive and his money tended to run out.

All of these Schlösser in Potsdam were build by "Friedrich der Große", a king in Germany, then. His area around Berlin (Potsdam lies south-west of it) is called "Preußen". It was an independent country back then (if I remember correctly), when "Germany" consisted of many of these independent countries - just like Bavaria. People often call Friedrich "den alten Fritz" ("the old Fritz"), don't know where this comes from.

This is a look along a path high onto the top of a smal hill where the "Neue Orangerie" lies. his Schloß is called so. This building hasits name from two sources - one is the small Orange-Trees that were planted there back then. Last yera - after a long hiatus of several decades or even more - small Orange-Trees were planted anew there - and were soon stolen ! I read it in the newspaper, and still cannot believe it. The planting wasn't so long ago, only a few weeks or even days, as they were actually stolen. I can only guess - I think it was quite easy because they (as I think) were planted into great buckets or so.
The second source is ... well, the Dutch people would call Orange Trees probably "oranjeboom" - and that's the second one. The Oranje house of Aristocrats has something to do with it ... I don't exactly know what, but I think it has to do with some relatives in the family of the king.

If I remember correctly, the Oranjes have also something to do with Nassau. Or is this another house ? Nassau is an area here in Germany - around Frankfurt at the river Main somewhere. Nauusau is also an island or an area south of Florida, I think. All these three have connections with one another, but I don't remember exactly what it was. Persons, probably.

Back to the picture : Only a few steps behind me lies a small place from which paths emerge like a star. One of these paths is the one I made this photograph along. You cal clearly see the perfect symmetry of this path - it's almost incredible.

The path is a bit wet, because it had been raining that day (the same day with the other "example of symmetry" above ) .

The so-called "Römische Bäder". Fritz or someone before or after him (several aristocrats and kings build this whole area, Potsdam and the Park) wanted Thermes (don't know the correct word) like the ones in ancient rome. Bathrooms.

The actual building is left of me, and I took several photos until I made this one - the only one which really satisfied me.

I called this one „Wald bei Potsdam“. This is not really correct. Technically, it lies within Potsdam, only rather on the outskirts. This wood is near to the Schloß Lindstedt - very roughly left of me - was the last building of Fritz, he began it when he was old and ill, but didn’t see it being completed. He died before its completion.

I took a walk past it, and later into the wood, exploring paths. It was huge fun going there, although a bit lonely.

I met a dragonfly within the wood. On the one hand I was surprised, on the other hand not, because I know that there are some pools behind that „hill“ - but thats several hundred metres away from that point. I rolled a small bug on it’s feet again, somewhere, but cannot remember anymore where.

Maybe I should’ve shown these pictures earlier, but I couldn’t find any space for them. Finally Alix was so kind to provide some spce for me.

Alrik.

I know that town as "Brügge". I've been there two times.

By the way, if anybody wants these pictures in size for desktop-wallpapers, PM me. I'll send them then via e-mail.

No Egin, my freind.
Most of the time it's to cold for those little buggers.

And even in summertime it's not that bad.
I think the quality of the water isn't good enough for them to lay their eggs in.
