(Act 1 spoilers below)

Hey there. I've been trying to play this game as in-character as I could, and that means acting like I'm in a hurry to not turn into a mind flayer. Since I'm in a hurry, I've been trying to get as much done in a single day as I could. Also, to me it feels cheap to long rest after every almost encounter; what are short rests and healing spells for, in that case? What's my Way of the Four Elements Monk's ki restoration ability for?

Anyway, the last content I did in Act 1 was destroying the goblin camp. This gave me the refugee party and a "free" long rest, and Mizora hadn't shown up yet. I was kind of testing things as I was going, and saw that if I long rested, I'd get the Shadowheart telepathic dream share scene; the "dream wolf." Looking into it, I should have had a lot of "dream wolf" points as well as plenty of affection from Shadowheart. As I progressed, I kept testing to make sure I could get that scene. I moved on to do the Githyanki Creche section of Act 1 in the mountains, and as soon as I crossed over into the new zone, I tested it again. I wanted to make sure that if I long-rested here, I could still get the Dream Wolf scene. I could.

So I proceeded to do the Creche stuff. I was surprised that there wasn't really a lot of content here except for the Creche itself. I made sure to make save points before I handed over the Astral Prism, before I fought the Githyanki Inquisitor (and subsequently the rest of the Creche, but only killing the Inquisitor posse), etc.. So really, there was only one major event to worry about locked me out of the Shadowheart Wolf Dream.

I finished the Creche and went to long rest to see if I could get the Wolf Dream still... but no. I went into Act 2 to check if I could get it there (just in case), but no. So I rewound and started reloading older saves to see if I could get it... not before the Inquisitor fight, not before handing over the artifact, not before entering the Creche, not... immediately after entering the new zone?! But I had previously tested that last one, and the last time I tested it, I *COULD* get the dream sequence there. I had to go back to before I entered the mountains before I could get the Wolf Dream again. But Jesus, I don't want to replay the whole Creche section. There's a lot for a loot goblin/perfectionist like me to do in this section, and I don't want to throw that all away. Especially since some of the fights were difficult for me (main character is a Monk/Rogue in the middle of multiclassing; just got Monk 4, Rogue 3 and discovered I can't do 2 normal punches).

So what gives? How come when I first checked if I could get Wolf Dream in this zone, I could, but after reloading a save from the same freaking time, I couldn't? Can I do something, anything to activate the Wolf Dream sequence? Is there some way to force the scene? Can I get the scene in Act 2? I mean, Shadowheart doesn't look as good with white hair, but I've already committed to a good playthrough.

I thought maybe that I could reactivate the Wolf Dream sequence if I sided with Shadowheart in the Shadowheart vs Lae`zel scene, but no. Do you need to take a long rest within a certain time period after getting enough Wolf Dream points? And if you don't rest within that time period, the Wolf Dream stuff becomes inactive?

If the game was gonna remove a scene from my playthrough, I'd have been happy if it removed the Mizora scene turning Wyll into a fiend. But I got forced into that one with an unscheduled Long Rest in the transition to the Creche, and the Shadowheart scene is now mysteriously gone.

Oh yeah, is there a way to manually set the flag for me having seen the Wolf Dream?

Yes, you'll need to download Cheat Engine. I'm unsure of the specifics, there.

The good news is I think you can get the Wolf Dream quite late, as long as it's before the final Temple of Shar moment. Unsure what triggers it, might be approval? I'm not sure if I recall a SlimX video talking about the triggers or if it was for something else.

Yeah, that video is very useful, but it's not helped me figure out why I can't get it anymore.

I'll keep going a little while and see if it comes up. Thanks for confirming that I can get the wolf dream scene in Act 2! And thanks for the name of the editor; I'm sure it wasn't easy for whoever made it, with all the flags and items you can have on your save file.

Yeah, never ended up getting the normal version of that scene despite having tons of Dream Wolf points and near max approval.

(Act 2 spoilers blow)

When I freed Nightsong and beat the Tower, I did get a different version of that scene.
