I would prefer a special scene, yes, cause I tend to agree with you, but putting that into the game with Durge specifically really sets Durge as being special even above the other characters which I don't think Larian really wanted to do with all things considered.
I think Durge is the real canon PC and I could make a big argument for it, but from my understanding the division of Tav with Durge was intended to give a lot of leeway for those who don't want to be pigeon-holed into a specific role so they tried to make it just as much and as little as the rest of the origin characters.
It would be great, yeah, but I do not think it will ever happen. If they want all the Origins to be equally important in their own way then I think this is probably going to be all that is going to happen. This coupled with the epilogue as well as talking with your companions works out just fine.
