I am having trouble with the Perform action. The Perform mechanics are not triggering reliably when my Bard/Warlock avatar uses the action. The music and animation plays, but it does not attract the attention of nearby NPCs, and the game does not roll a Performance ability check. Occasionally it'll get the attention of one distant NPC, but it still doesn't roll the ability check.

I found that one reliable way to trigger this state is to get caught while trying to sneak Sazza out of the Grove. After getting caught, even if I talk my way out of it, the Perform action stops working.

The ability started working again briefly when I first entered the Sacred Pool area, but it failed again when I tried to use Perform inside the Inner Sanctum. After that, I couldn't get the ability to work at all, except by reloading a save from before helping Sazza escape. I replayed that quest without getting caught (up to the point where Sazza leaves the area), and now Perform seems to work normally. Unfortunately, I've lost a few hours of play from the backtracking.

While I was trying to troubleshoot the broken Perform action, I noticed that some nearby NPCs responded like I was using Hide instead of Perform. Also, if I used the Hide action while performing, all of the nearby NPCs suddenly reacted to the music, and the game immediately rolled a Perform check. Between that and the Sazza quest, I suspect that there's some bug related to the Perform and Hide states.

Found another problem with Perform: after unlocking the Favorable Beginnings power, my bard can no longer use Perform effectively. In this case, the action still draws a crowd and rolls an ability check, but then the performance ends suddenly, and the crowd disperses without leaving any gold. This makes Perform useless as a distraction and prevents progress on the Perform achievement.

Strangely, this doesn't seem to affect Karlach. She learned Perform from the scene with Alfira, and for her the action seems to work normally even after unlocking Favorable Beginnings.

edit: I experimented with Perform & Favorable Beginnings some more, and it seems like it only affects the very first time that I use Perform. That would explain why it affected my bard Tav but not Karlach. I tested it again after freshly unlocking the power, and if Karlach performs first, the bug affects her instead of Tav, and only the very first time I use Perform. After that it seems fine, even if I travel to a new area or take a long rest.
