Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Saves from PC will sync but won't load on Mac

I started playing BG3 on my MacBook Pro, and a few hours in I moved my gameplay to a Windows PC. (Both on Steam)

Now, any save files created (and synced) on the PC to the cloud do not load on my Mac. The files seem to sync, but the "<Load>" button is greyed out on the Mac. Also, the thumbnail for the save is correct and visible ... I just can't load the file.

I tried to manually copy a PC save to the Mac, (didn't load) then tried to copy the entire profile to a locally, re-installed version of the game on the Mac with cross-play disabled. I then tried to load the files, and again, the ones created on the PC won't load.

The only thing I can think of the version of the game save format on the PC is different than the version on my Mac. Both games seem to be up-to-date in the Steam Library.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I have this exact problem. Exactly. Has anyone come up with a solution? I travel with my Macbook. I'd prefer not to have to dismantle my desk to play BG3 when I do. I *used* to be able to do this, but I took about a year off... Now, no luck.

I was checking the forums just because I have encountered the same issue with PC Steam/PS5 crossplay.

Until September 9, everything worked fine. Then I played on PC only for a couple of days, and now my PS5 won't download anything from Larian's cloud (which is up to date with my Steam saves).

I tried unlinking and linking my PSN account, but it didn't help.

It looks like a server-side issues, are the devs aware of this?

I have the same issue on PS5. I think it is because of different versions of the game. On PC i made a save from game with Patch 7. My PS5 game didn't have that patch and version of the game is lower. That's why my savegame from PC didn't sync with my PS5. The patch 7 will come on consoles in October.

I thought of this myself but I did play the game on both platforms after Patch 7 was released. Unless I did so before my PC build was updated anyway. Makes sense though.

Hello! Patch 7 is currently only live on PC, and due to this cross-saves will not work with Mac until Patch 7 is released for the platform later in October.

If you want to go back to the Patch 6 version, we’ve made a Patch 6 beta branch available for those who want to continue to play on multiplayer with Mac, or keep your cross-saves working!

1. Right click on BG3 in your Steam Library > Properties > Betas
2. On Beta Participation select: release_patch6_hf9

I'd like to keep my Patch 7 saves on PC and start a new adventure on my Mac. Will all the saves be available after the Mac patch release or will my new adventure override the saves on PC?
