Short:
I can't get the killers sweetheart ring to trigger the executioner as I used to do.

Hello, I have been playing Baldur's gate a few hundred hours and used the killer's sweetheart on melee and ranged characters on tactical difficulty. It works great.
Now I am playing a lightning sorcerer/wizzard on honor mode and can not get the killer's sweetheart to trigger. I wear it as usual, I set up the reactions tab properly, I kill an enemy and get the executioner. I seem to do everything as I have done the last few hundred hours but the ring won't trigger. I have saved the game, restarted my computer, checked the game filed, tried again the next day. No success. My lvl 5 and 6 cold spells get wasted because I can't predict wether I will hit or not :-(
I tried google but there is almost no info about the ring other than the ingame description wich doesnt help.
Is it honor mode that nerfs the ring? Is it my combo of multiclass that nerfs the ring? I am confused.
