Was chatting with some gaming friends about BG3 while previously discussing elden ring and wukong, someone who had not played bg3 asked if it had a new game + mode, and alas it does not. We mentioned that due to the way the story works we were not sure it could be easily implemented, but agreed the idea of new game + would be cool.
That got me thinking if BG3 added a new game + how could they fit it into the lore where it would make sense, after all the nautiloid capture sequence makes sense as it weakens you and your party to lvl 1. So restarting powered up on the nautiliod powered up from previous campaign maybe hard to explain that and how do you get back there?
The easiest way I thought of lore wise to do it is have you start new game + on the beach after talking to whithers. Basically have whithers say something along the lines of "That was an awfully poor attempt, would you like another go?" or something then via dialog explaining he could set you back on the beach after the nautiliod crashed, allowing you to keep your levels etc. but however to keep the world balanced the enemies would also have to become equally more powerful, or something like that. then it plays as usual however your party will start with the levels you had in the original run through aka shadowheart leveled as you had leveled her previously etc. after talking to her on the beach. could even add a fun dialog when re discovering whithers about some Deja vu of "do i know you?" where whithers could reply with his usual "No." or something.
Could also be an interesting way to up the level cap.
With all that said it would likely be a lot of work and would likely require more voice acting to achieve as well, so I get that this is probably relegated into the pipe dream category of suggestions. However I thought I would share it regardless, maybe an adventurous Modder will try to make it be a thing /shrug.
Tick, "We must choose battle cries, you know the cries we just admit right before leaping into battle"
Arthur, "Oh, you mean like.. Not in the face, Not in the Face!"
Tick, "Hmm, lacks force Chum, no more like, like uh... SPOON!!!"
