Hopefully they can at least do this by the release of the PS5 Pro on November 7th, but I have concerns that there will even be a patch for the PS5 Pro. Is that confirmed or just a guess on your part?
This is just my hypothesis for future patches based on how Larian has released previous patches.
We know patches have a main highlight feature, plus various fixes:
Patch 1 = Official Launch Fixes
Patch 2 = Withers Wardrobe
Patch 3 = Mac support + Magic Mirror
Patch 4 = Color-blind Settings
Patch 5 = Epilogue + New Game Modes
Patch 6 = Improved Romance Animations
Patch 7 = Mods + Evil Endings
With this info, I think the next patches will follow the same theme:
Patch 8 = Crossplay or Photo Mode + PS5 Pro patch
Patch 9 = Crossplay or Photo Mode
Patch 10 = Definitive Edition (PS5 Pro patch here is it isn't added before)
Then the last hotfixes to complete and finish all work on the game.
For the PS5 Pro patch, I think the Patch 8 release will have something in it to persuade the console users on the fence to purchase BG3 and receive a bump in revenue for their current projects. If not, it could be in the Definitive Edition.
A Definitive Edition is speculated only because Divinity Original Sin 1&2 had the same patch theme as well, and again, it seems like a no-brainer for one last push of BG3 sales to sell as much BG3 product at the end of its lifecycle to fund their current projects.
