I waited until exposing Kagha so they would stop their chanting, but whatever I do I get caught.

If I drink an invisibility potion or cast the spell I become visible before stealing it. I tried fog cloud and it didn't work. I tried performing so the druids would be distracted. But I still get caught.

Maybe if I waited until I can cast darkness?

But am I supposed to become visible before stealing it? It wasn't like that before.

Nevermind I was able to steal it after resting at camp for some reason. Invisibility worked.

I think it was made more difficult at some point. I once was able to throw - with STR 21 from potion - the idol to the neighborhood of the lift to Timber and just pay a small fine.

cast mage hand, use it to 'throw' it a few feet away... rinse / repeat to get it into a good spot
