I have never run across this problem before and I have played the beta for years so I have been playing a good while. I am not running with mods.
For some unknown reason, Astarion's Charlatan background is no longer attaching to his character. All of the other origin characters and Tav do have Backgrounds but when I look at Astarion's character sheet there is no Charlatan background or any other background listed.
The first time that I recognized this was when I tried to enter a certain ruin door where that particular background normally gains an Inspiration Point and that did not occur like it has for years now.
This started occurring just yesterday.
According to steam downloads there was an update to bg3 that I downloaded yesterday but I have been playing non stop for days and have had the 28 hot patch downloaded for days so I don't understand what this patch that wasn't even listed officially did or if it may even be my problem.
I just ran a steam file verification and it says that all files have been verified.
There is a reddit page about this problem and it says that if you do fight the battle before the door that it can disable getting that particular Inspiration Point but it does not mention Ast's entire Charlatan Background being Gone from his character. I tried fighting the fight and Not fighting the battle and either way the Inspiration Point does not trigger and the Charlatan background doesn't appear in either case.
Apparently, since there is a Reddit about it, other people have run into this before but I am not seeing it listed here on the forums anywhere.
Has anyone here run across this or know of a fix?
