Travel banter will sometimes have muted dialogue. This also applies to the banter you get from the sentient amulet. You'll get subtitles of his banter, but you can't hear his voice.

Yes, sadly and restarting the Game won't help in every situation. I have tried this several times in Putrid Bog to no avail. Crossing the first shallow waterway and heading to the left, you’ll discover a ransacked camp and your character will make a Nature check. If I failed that check, there was a comment + audio, but if I passed there was a comment + NO audio...

Preil for me too, I tried everything but nothing works.

I have the same problem with muted banter in the bog. And that isn't the only place where it happens.
