My review of the game remains negative until this is fixed

Another small thing I noticed, though not on the resist path...if you use your Slayer form in front of Jaheira, she has nothing to say about it, unlike the other companions. Dunno if it was bugged on my end or not, though.

I want to add to this but it's sort of minor and not like a dire thing that needs to be added. But I've recently downloaded this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/12683 and was shocked by how much dialogue the dark urge misses. I haven't played as Tav in so long, so I was baffled by how much I've missed or forgotten. But why is the dark urge so silent around the world? I would think they would still have things to say. Even just adding Tav lines to the dark urge would suffice for me, I'm content using the mod but I'm not sure if this mod could ever be added to the new mod manager so console players would miss out smirk Just a suggestion!

What are the companion reactions like if you lose the duel with Orin and are doomed to succumb to your urge?

I've only seen videos of Astarion's, specifically romanced Astarion, so it makes me wonder if the other companion reactions are mid smirk

I might test this by purposely losing on my current playthrough. Romancing Lae'zel on this one.

Chiming in that the durge can’t be shouting about their father in acts one and two. It is a spoiler. If anything, I would like to hear all of Tav’s random shouts in act one. That would be preferable to hearing my durge spout stuff that makes no sense.

Another minor thing I noticed...if you hold off on telling your companions of your urge to kill, then the Alfira scene happens, the companion responses are the same "everyone has intrusive thoughts " answers. I think the responses should be way different because from a role play perspective it's immersion breaking.

i'm pretty sure shadowheart's response is something like, "wow, it seems even your father has lost faith in you!", which is just a crazily insensitive thing to say lol. it's the same reaction whether or not she rejected shar, although i don't know if it's different if you romance her?

i do feel like several of the reactions to any version of the durge/orin duel seem inappropriately frivolous i.e. astarion's "twee" comment which really undercut what is meant to be a serious & moving culmination of durge's whole arc, for better or for worse. this isn't the case with any of the companion's stories, which all end beautifully, so it's a shame that durge's arc isn't treated with the same pathos.

Ooof. Yeah smirk It is insensitive. Really sad that Astarion gets more content AND has the most sensitive and heartbreaking lines.

It does seem more in line with Sharran Shadowheart but not Selunite. Honestly some Shadowheart Act 3 characterization seems like they just thought of Sharran and not Selunite, but that's another discussion, lol.

I did send in feedback for all of the Durge stuff a while ago, and I hope they implement it as well as give all the other companions the same treatment that Astarion got, but if it's not in Patch 8, I don't know if it'll ever be fixed.

They changed the Ansur cutscene and changed companion reactions to a lot of things, so it's not like it's impossible.

I would like to add to this thread too. I wholeheartedly agree with everything said in the initial post.

And I am ESPECIALLY disturbed by the complete lack of reaction to
Dark Urge dying when they reject Bhaal. They DIED for gods' sake! Meanwhile, Astarion got a heartfelt reaction to being singed by the sun - which I think is very nice, but on the other hand, the protagonist's DEATH isn't acknowledged. If not for Withers, the Dark Urge would have died permanently! No one knew that Withers would intervene, he's been decidedly neutral about everything. Moreover, if one of our companions is romanced, their lack of reaction is downright hurtful.
