So, I started up BG3 after a couple months away... I had a startup problem and noticed it got stuck in starting Microsoft runtime files. I waited and after a several minutes it finally went passed that but crashed immedietly. I tried starting again and this time I went passed that but once I got the Larian popup screen, I get the missmatch error. I start the game and it runs anyway.
While inside the game I have narrator and everything but decided to switch to headphones. I do that and the narrator is gone. I start searching for solutions and find that spatial sounds should be on, but doesnt work.
I'm getting a little pissed off. I read also that uninstalling and reinstalling fixes things. So, I do that, and even uses a different harddrive for the game. I start it up and still get the missmatch error on the Larian popup Screen.

So, I also read if I turn on Mono sound in game it should fix things. I cannot, it is greyed out. I then went to the windows sound settings and I turned on mono sound there. I now can hear the narrators voice in the headphones.

Is it supposed to be like this?

I don't know what to do with the data missmatch error. The game starts, but... I don't like errors...

Anything that I try doesn't work. The only thing that does work is if I activate mono sound in Windows 11. But, who the hell wants mono sound?

I wonder if it's the last Microsoft windows update that caused this? They had a major one the other day, and then another "patch", I assume it was, yesterday. It triggered a check program after update where it verified chipset driver versions and such.

I am starting to get a bit angry... This was working just fine when I played last time, several months ago. Why is it not working now? 😡

Ok, so, I got the narrator sound to work.

In windows I can activate the Spatialsound for my speakers, and I did, but, that didn't work for my headphones. (I never had a problem with narrator voice with the pc speakers so I inactivated it again.)
My headphones for some reason are not registered in windows sound setup.

I use a program called Audioswitch. In that I just found that I can activate Spatialsound specifically for my headphones. I did and now I have narrator sound.

So, now I just need to get rid of the annoying data missmatch error, somehow.
