You should rather post bugs immediately in the semi-official Bugs Forum : http://aow.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=t&fn=31

And please try to be polite.

Strange, i didnt have any problems with AOW:SM. Didn't crash a single time.
Does it crash regularly or was it only a single time or so And when does it crash always in the shadow world

I was reading this thread : DLL Problems. My face went several times at different "turning points" . It's a very interesting thread with lots to learn how de-bugging works (with the help of gamers, of course).

Yeah Blockbuster is the first place i go to. You can try these: Family Video, Blockbuster and Hollywood Video.

I think there is 8 volumes. Im looking for disc 7 not episode 7.
You should try several Blockbusters in your area i tried 2.

Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic has maaaajor problems with GeForce Nvidia cards, especially the GeForce2 MX versions. If you have that card, Shadow Magic will freak out with the terrain moving about in battle screens and crashing... so far the only solution is to reboot a lot, I heard.

I had a scrambled screen once when I played AoW2. I had used the driver from the manufacturer of my GeForce 2 GTS card, the company called "Elsa" (doesn't exist anymore).

After upgrading to an NVidia driver, my screen was fine.

I doubt that, I have also a geforce 2 an MX, and it didnt crash a single time on the hours i have played. It worked fine, no crashes, no strange things happening. Guess i am lucky.:)

virgo use the find menu,
type in dxdiag and it will show you where it is,
or cruise to the windows/system folder and find it there!

Too bad AoW2 isnt as bloody as AoW 1.
I just loved those bloodbaths on the battlefield after a large siege .
(but then again, i am pretty sick in the head )

One of the most strangest things in the AoW Forums at Heavengames is the Forum User calling himself "lucky_mustard".

His thread with the title "hahaha last night i defeated goblins with undead!!!" has become truly infamous throughout the whole Forms. Especially, because he opens now and then new thread with a similar title.

Examples :

- "hahahaha i defeated archons with undead (i think?)"

His favourite race is undoubtly the Undead race.

Recently, I nearly burst in laughter, because he made a new thread :

"i need a cure for the hahas"

In this topic he wrote : "apparently consecutive losses as the undead has no effect".

The only reply so far was the following : "Amputate your fingers, and tongue. Also flatten your nose."

Bits from the AoW Forum :

Quote
Anarch Cassius:

Seduce only works on male units, even when used by a male unit. No male unit in the game posses Seduce by default but it can be given to male hero by forging an item with Seduce. It can also be done with the editor which is where I first discovred it but I figured it would be more likely to be fixed if I showed it could be done in a normal game.
The obvious solution is of course making Seduce affect units of the opposite sex. Yeah it's heterocentric but I really don't think all units should be gay and if they were bi than Seduce would basically become Dominate and Gender would be a meaningless stat.

I can provide a savefile if requested but it easy to test on your own.

Quote
Anarch Cassius :

The fact that any unit regardless of gender cannot seduce females but can seduce males is fine? Honestly I think the current setup is quite bizzare and sexist.

camelotcrusade :

Once I was talking to my grandpa while playing AoW1 and fighting some nymphs. All he could hear was "OOH," "Ahhh..." and her death screen "WAhahahoooheee!" a max volumes. He was very confused. :P

My First Impression of AoW:SM is here, already poosted in the AoWHeavengames-Forum :

Hello, everyone.

Today I bought a european game of the game (thanks to Take2 for delaying it so long).

The actual german version I bought is packaged in a similar "thing" like Wizardry 8, with the exception that it includes a Handbook and a DVD case with one (1) CD-ROM. To be exact, the package is identical to the one of AoW2.

The Package itself is flat; you cannot press on certain parts of the cover.

The Handbook translated into German contains text I know from AoW2; the company compiling the text didn't have much work; instead, it seems to me, they more or less copy & pasted a *lot* of the old manual.

Additions are nice (mostly tables) : You can see in the Handbook several additions I haven't seen in AoW2, mostly details, like a complete list of Buildings. The Editor is described in it, too.

I consider it quite a great idea to print the keyboard shortcuts on the back of the handbook : No card flying around, no need to keep pages open. Excellent !

The Handbook has 196 pages, the first two and last two pages (cover) not counted.

Although the package says that 900 MB are needed on my HD, I could install the game with having free space between 800 and 900 MB (sorry, don't remember the exact number).
Windows says the whole directory consumed almost 800 MB space.

I payed nearly 26 Euro for it. (Note : The plural form of "Euro" is in Germany still "Euro", not "Euros". )

The german Web-Page http://www.ageofwonders.de is not updated : It doesn't contain information about the Patch !

Please inform the makers to correct this immediately !

The CD-ROM still contains DirectX 9.0a , although the information about s a serious leak in Directx is several weeks old, and 9.0b is available for several weeks. I don't understand the CD-manufacturing company didn't have the time to include 9.0b (the game had about a month time ! -counted from the american release !)

Over the Weekend, I'll dig myself into the game. I have waited long enough for it (thanks to Take2), and am now glad to have it here.

Alrik.

Comments are welcome.
