I am at the beginning of Act III, the current task is to 'escape through the portal' at Wyrm's lookout. I have seen with a PC player it looked like his cursor turned to an 'enter portal' icon when he was hovering the mouse cursor over the portal. My character is next to the portal but using an Xbox controller I do not get an enter portal icon.
In sum, I cannot figure out how to enter the portal, even though I am standing next to it.
I am playing on a fully updated Xbox Series S with a fully updated BG3.
I suspect this is a UI problem (but who knows could be a gameplay problem).
I have tried moving the Xbox cursor all over the portal, but am not getting the access portal icon. Don't know if I need to be a certain distance or touch a certain spot on the screen with the cursor, in order to trigger the access portal icon icon to appear. Perhaps there is a bit of a trick to it that I don't understand.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

I just kept trying moving the Xbox cursor around the portal and one time a 'Use' option appeared, which allowed me to use the portal to progress the game.

From my perspective, it was very finicky to trigger the Use option.

It can get finicky on PC too
