A home for things that you thought would be great, but turned out not to be such a good idea after all.

It was a bad idea to....
Use a wild magic character as stealth character.
I made a bard/wild magic sorcerer. It looked like a fun CHA-based combination.
But the wild magic is wont to crash the bard's stealth, subetefuge or social interaction operations.
Like casting "invisibilty" to penetrate a building unseen, but wild magic kicking off a fog cloud which makes all the guards in the street attack your party.

so you picked wild magic expecting it to act civilised?

Why, yes.

Wild magic is a wild card.

It was a bad idea to...open the door of the blighted barn. Can't be unseen.

Another bad idea was trying to dispose a certain mystic's attempts at pottery in the Elfsong's fireplace. That, violating the No Undead-rule, and all the beak and claw marks in the parquet probably got us a lifelong ban.

... respec Minsc with Archery fighting style and Sharpshooter feat, give him a load of cool arrows and then... not notice that he didn't actually have a bow.

Have Lae'zel yeet me off the cliff to get rid of the enemy of justice condition, only to realize we were too close to the Goblin sentries, and they all went hostile & attacked before she could res me.

This one involves an Act 3 spoiler.

Killiing Gortash before destroying the Steel Watch factory! I gleefully shoved him off of Wyrm's Rock, but in that moment the Netherbrain destroyed the factory itself and took control of the Steel Watch, making them permanently aggro throughout the city and force me into near-constant battle any time I wanted to just walk anywhere until I cleared them out!

And non-spoiler, I tried building a Fighter/Paladin multiclass and it was just not good. Trying to build for both means sacrificing high level abilities, which resulted in a character weaker than pure Fighter or pure Paladin.

... grab a grease bottle in the Ironhand gnomes cave in Rivington.

The room with Tulla had some rotten barrels that were white. (Contrary to all the red containers in the cave) So I looked into the first one, and found some grease bottles. Took them, no prob.
The second barrel, also white, also contained 2 grease bottles. I took them and all the gnomes became hostile and attacked immediately. Not even a choice to put them back or persuade them it was a mistake. No turning back. Had to kill them all. Including Wulbren and Barkus. All we did for him counted for nothing anymore, compared to a couple of grease bottles.

Ha! I know what that's like!

Not sure what platform you're on, but it is sooo much worse in there specifically to use a controller for movement! Several times I've aggroed them while trying to talk to one of them, but they move the split-second I click and ended up stealing instead!

It's one of the few places in the game I use click-based movement instead of the analog stick...

I'm on PC. It wasn't a control error. Actually, I never steal from friendly places. Only, from neutral or enemy sites. But even there, one gets usually a warning and an option to get out. Here the items were colored white, so it wasn't even stealing. I suppose it's a bug that this was considered stealing. But what pains me most is that Tulla, Wulbren and Barkus... all of whose lives are saved, attack without question. This was a very immersive-breaking, story-wrecking event for me. Well, I got to loot a runepower bomb after they were all dead.

They are a terrorist group and you stole what amounts to a small nuke... Honestly what did you expect them to do

No, the thing I "stole" was a grease bottle. A white colored one.
After they were all dead I looted the place of course, and got their nuke. If they had told me to put the bottle back, I would have done so, and they'd all still be alive.
