I tried to explore Waukeen's Rest, but I was interrupted, so I quicksaved and quit the game. When I came back, I tried to load that save and the game just crashed, which doesn't happen with saves from any other location. I also tried loading a save in which I had never visited Waukeen's Rest, then I briefly went to Waukeen's Rest, immediately after I went back to the Risen Road and I quicksaved. When loading this new file, I got the same exact issue as before. Also, the crashes don't occur if I load a save in which I have never visited Waukeen's rest.

Does anyone know what might be causing this issue?

[SOLUTION] The cause of the issue was actually the mod Tactician Enhanced (I used the English version from the in-game mod manager but I assume the others would also be problematic). Just by uninstalling it using the in game mod manager I was able to solve the problem. I tried uninstalling the mod in the recommended way using also the spell provided by the mod itself but it gave me some issues.

Edit: I tried using the Tactician Enhanced mod from Nexus, but it gives me the same exact problem.

Just linking a couple of other threads about what sounds like issues with (other) specific areas, just in case there’s any commonality or anything pops up in one that helps in others. Sorry I’m not able to be any more help than that! Hope you get a solution, and if you haven’t already you might also want to report to Larian support (link on launcher).

Comprehension question: Which exact mod source of Tactician Enhanced was the problem, the Nexus or mod.io one?

Actually it was from the one from the in-game mod manager.

Thanks for the info. I suspected that because it was the same for me. It seems Larian's in-game mod manager is not (yet) necessarily better than Nexus.

Oh wow i would've never thought. I'll try installing tactician enhanced from nexus then and see if the problem disappears.

I tried it and unfortunately it gives the same exact issues.

Oh snap! Then, as so often in the past, it's probably due to Act 3 areas.
