Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Story & Character Discussion Companions: How did your character's impression of them develop?

Backstory: I exclusively play durge but I made my character somewhat similar to them. Her name is Amaya, she is a tiefling and she is a cleric of Selune/lunar sorcerer (i use mods lol). She remembers bits and pieces of her past self, one of those little things were her knowing she was a devoted follower of Selune at some point in her life especially since she remembered the prayers and rituals. She struggles a lot with the murderous tendencies especially when she does not want to act on any of them, overall she just wants to be a good person. I have more background about her but i would end up writing an entire book about that lol.

Astarion: Love at first sight or I guess at first dagger at throat? She was instantly drawn to him and found it quite easy to talk to him, he was the first to notice some of her urges and how pained/sick she would get if she did not act on her urges while the others never really took it as seriously as he did. He was quite prickly to her in the beginning, especially in act 1 and he did hurt her feelings quite a bit but he was always funny to her, loved her chaoticness, and became quite a softie which made her fall for him even more. Astarion was really only soft to her which i think confused the others because he was grouchy to everyone else lol.

Shadowheart: She was also drawn to her but not like Astarion, she just meshed very well with Shadowheart despite their gods being at odds and became fast friends. Of course, she was upset when she found out Shadowheart was a Sharran and even more so when Shadowheart said they were 'naturally enemies' but honestly that didn't stop her from being besties with her lmfao. After the whole nightsong ordeal, they became closer as Amaya taught her about Selune. I do think Shar punished Shadowheart a lot whenever they spent time together gossiping, doing each others hair or just in general spending time with one another.

Gale: Thought he talked a lot but was a sweetheart, and after his whole orb revelation and especially after Mystra wanted him to blow up she wanted to go fight Mystra on sight lol, sometimes she did let the urge take over and this was one specific one she wanted to indulge in. Gale had an obvious crush on Amaya which did lead to a bit of uncomfiness especially between Gale and Astarion as Astarion DID not like Gale at all, not until act 3 lol. But other than that she was very close to him similar to how close she was with Shadowheart and he even helped her with her sorcery powers as she didn't know she had them until the middle of act 1.

Lae'zel: Didn't quite understand her at first but eventually grew to love her, Lae wasn't exactly all that inviting the first few days or even weeks but I do think Lae respected Amaya very quickly and became much more friendly after Amaya stuck up for her when Shadowheart was going to kill her in the night over the artifact. I do think after that Lae started to hang out with Shadowheart, Amaya and Karlach more and even let them braid/cut her hair.

Kalrach: Loved her instantly, she and Karlach sort of have similar views on things and just meshed very well overall. I think their shared chaoticness and both being tieflings made them vibe well lol. I do think Karlach was really the only other person besides Amaya that could be close to Astarion so she sort of was trying to get him to admit his feelings all the time even though he was trying his hardest to ignore them lol. I think Karlach played a big role in acting like a big sister to Amaya and even Astarion lol.

Wyll: Thought he was charming and very sweet. She really really despises Mizora similar to Mystra it was on SIGHT but knew she couldn't touch her or Wyll would suffer. Sometimes she and Wyll would get in small conflicts about things though, Amaya didn't really do things right away or the best way which I think would make Wyll a little annoyed. Amaya will always do the right thing but how she does them is sometimes concerning lol. But in all honesty, if she wasn't so in love with Astarion she probably would have ended up with Wyll (Wyll is truly a dream man lol).

Minthara: Similar to Lae'zel she didn't quite understand her but it wasn't until after killing Ketheric was when she did. They were both abused by Orin (Amaya obvi didn't know at the time) but after learning of Minthy's indoctrination she was going to murder Orin happily, technically she does as she had to duel her lol but I digress, I do think Minthara is quite similar to Astarion when it comes to understanding Amaya's urges and had expressed multiple times that she was concerned for her and has stuck up for her ESPECIALLY when the whole Bhaal's ex chosen reveal happened. I do think they became very close after killing Ketheric.

Halsin: Thought he was a good ally and friend never understood how he kept getting captured lol. I honestly don't think she was as close to him as she was with the others.

Jaheira: Amaya saw her as a mother figure, Jaheira found Amaya amusing and they would both banter off one another. I do think Jaheira also saw her like a daughter and treated her as such as well, especially when she learned that Amaya was a bhaalspawn.

Minsc and Boo: Loved boo I have a little headcanon that Boo starts to sleep with Amaya and Astarion and Misnc gets jealous lmfao. She also loved Minsc of course and I have another headcanon that after the game events he goes around calling himself her uncle lol.
