I'm a sucker for these threads, even though I still only have one complete playthrough.

Backstory: Myrna Brandybuck, halfling bard. She grew up in a halfling village in the east of Amn, in a musical family and always loved hearing stories of the world and great adventures. When she came of age she moved to Baldur's Gate to attend bard college, but despite performing in taverns all the time, she was too socially awkward to ask to join all those adventuring parties that would form in front of her. It took the tadpoling to throw her out of her comfort zone and onto the road, where she slowly opened up to people. She's very kind - especially to other short folk, who she thinks have to stick together - and somewhat impulsive.

Spoilers up to the epilogue.

In roughly the order I met them, if I recall correctly

Shadowheart was the first person Myrna really got talking to. When she said she wasn't bothered about Shar and just wanted to get to know her (partly because I as a player misremembered who Shar is), Shadowheart soon started to open up and they were firm friends by the time they held a party together. But she was really put off when Shadowheart turned all zealoty in the Shadowlands. But Myrna persuaded her to spare the Nightsong, and Shadowheart found her true self. The two became much closer friends as Myrna helped Shadowheart work through things.

Astarion: Myrna never liked him. Every time she tried to be kind to someone, the insults came flowing from Astarion. She promised a druid that she would not allow herself to become a mindflayer, and he laughed at her. She snapped and sent him back to camp immediately. That night she woke to find him, fangs bared, over her face. "Shit..." was his last word before she leapt up, heart pounding and thrust a stake into his gut. He looked at her, and the stake, and fled.

Gale: He was fun, and they got along quite well. She couldn't resist peeking into his mind to see what was going on with the magic inside him, but was too scared to mention what she'd seen. They spent the night together after the tieflings' party, sharing their different connections to the weave. But when Myrna sensed the potential romantic connection she froze and dropped it, not ready for anything like that. When Gale told her about his explodiness, she took the only sensible reaction and asked him to leave. Out of character and with hindsight, I think this is a shame. I later decided that Myrna is slightly autistic, and I've heard people suggest that Gale is neurodiverse. Maybe they'd have been a good couple. But decisions matter in this game.

Lae'zel was far too intense at first. At the tiefling party, Lae'zel seemed angry with Myrna, almost as if she was about to leave. Not wanting to lose someone else after all the others, Myrna was careful what she said to Lae'zel. Then, without warning, Lae'zel asked to have sex, right in front of everyone else. Things were awkward for a while. She let Lae'zel lead the party through the githyanki creche, only getting more shocked as Lae'zel spoke openly about how brutal her people are. But things started to change when Myrna found evidence of Vlaakith's lies and proved it. The two never made friends, but there was certainly mutual respect.

Wyll (I'm using artistic license to combine two versions of this): Myrna didn't know what to make of him at first. But once things calmed down, it became clear that their hearts were in the same place. He was the anti-Astarion: every time Myrna helped someone, Wyll would approve. He was suave and charming, and, as her personality began to open out to the world, she started to think about him more. Then, one evening in an old Sharran temple, he asked her to dance. Myrna loves dancing, and joined in straight away. She knew what was coming, but... when he looked into her eyes, her nerves failed her and she looked away. But eventually they found themselves together again, and this time the kiss happened.

Minthara: Goblin leader go BOOM

Karlach said something about "robbing her way to Baldur's Gate". This didn't sound like Myrna's sort of thing, so they went their separate ways. Out of character, probably the wrong decision.

Halsin: Out of character, I knew Halsin's reputation for being... open. And turning into a bear. He's already a big guy, so when he looked at Myrna's face while enthusing about "the beauty of nature" I couldn't help interpret a look of terror in her eyes. She was sad to see him disappointed when she didn't lift the shadow curse, but to be honest, a druid is probably better placed to solve it than a bard, and she had more important things to deal with.

Jaheira: It took a while for Myrna to get chatting to her as an equal, but she has some great stories from the past and a good sense of humour. They ended up as good friends, with a bit of cheekiness both ways. Then, Myrna asked if she could join the Harpers. She might be "someone who should know better", but Myrna wanted the chance to get back to performing while also being ready to, one day, go out and save the world again. Or at least, help a few needy people.

Minsc: Yeah, he's a bit mad. But also has stories to tell. Interesting, but I don't think they ever bonded much.
