Hi,
I searched a bit on the Internet but I didn't find the answer I was looking for so I post here.
When I create a new character, the body type 2 and 4 are automatically men, even if I choose woman as identity. Is is a bug or a feature? I think it's weird to only have a choice between really small or bulky woman. For men, it looks kinda ok but for women, it's strange.
So before creating my new character, I wanted to know if I only have those 2 choices or it's going to be patched.
Thank you.

Hi, for some races there are four body types and for others just two, and you can separately (and independently) choose a gender identity for your character. So not a bug, I’m afraid, and yes there aren’t a wide range of body builds to choose from.

But just to be sure, it's normal to have a character looking like a male even if I choose female? Like that elf I don't mind having fewer body type options but it's changing automatically to a female or male appareance depending on body type.

I am mostly an Origin-player so I have limited experience with character creation, just as a hint to take this with a grain of salt. But the way I understand it, gender decides which pronouns are used for your character (it's their identity), while picking the body type determines what they look like.

I agree OP. But yeah the male/female is for the pronouns and gender identity. I wish they would have gone with a slider type of character creator which would have been so much more customizable. I hate having to choose from generic faces, makes me feel like Tav is nothing but another NPC.😢 The main character should be able to look unique to anyone else in the game. Same problem with their previous game. I'd have a tough time playing now without mods.

I was more than a little surprised when I started customising my first Tav and realised the game did not have full facial customisation. It is honestly quite odd in a modern CRPG like this. Hells, even Dragon Age: Origins let you edit facial features, and it released nearly fifteen years before BG3. Have Larian ever commented why they opted to go for generic faces only?

Like that elf I don't mind having fewer body type options but it's changing automatically to a female or male appareance depending on body type. This is a male face. If you go humoid races ( elf stuff, human, tiefling) you have body type 1 and 3 looking female and 2 and 4 looking male. The other races have 1 looking female and 2 looking male. You also can select pronouns and gender separately to cover all flavor of gender fluidity. If you want to play female with a female face and body, choose 1 ( slim) or 3 ( muscular).

Ok, thank very much to all of you for your answers. So it's a feature :p I'll start my new gameplay then, I was wondering if it was something to be fixed in a future patch.

No idea, but it was a disappointment to me. Here's hoping it will finally be fully customizable in the next game...
