Ketheric Thorm is invulnerable until Nightsong is released, so yeah, I don't think there's any way you can kill him without meeting Nightsong.
Unless you cheat to make him vulnerable (I don't know how to do that), but then this opens up lots more potential bugs. If you were going to cheat, I'd say a cheat to reset Isobel is a better bet
