Not really a quest, more story-line; I'm really enjoying one-hundred percenting each companion's approval. Then maintain it (more or less).

Shart, Gale and Lae'zel easily done. Astarion is hard without going romanced or all psycho. Now juggling him with Minthara (and Halsin to come!).

Sure, I'm checking the approval charts as I go, however I balance that with my Tav's baseline and economy of travel. The +5's are what matter, the odd -1 has to happen. In some ways it's more immersive because you get to understand the nuance of how companions think.

Lae'zel and the creche. Shart and Grymforge/Guantlet of Shar. Minthara and Moonrise. Gale and any mass battlefield (Grove Gate 2, Moonrise, Halsin portal, combined creche encounters - yes, I did that).

Yeah, I have a special place in my heart for the Iron Throne. It tests the party's mobility and economy of action.

One encounter I've robbed myself of too many times in the past, is battle for Moonrise Towers - without thinning the horde beforehand. I think I'll maximize the carnage current play through.

*So many* but rather than get overwhelmed and not answer at all, I’ll just pick out chasing down the murder victims in Act 3. Mechanically it’s not that interesting, I know, but I love the insight it gives into the feuding between Gortash and Orin and Gortash’s rise to power, in a way that makes the world feel much more alive and bigger in a very economical way from a development and game resource perspective.

Each time I come to it I seem to get details I’d missed (or forgotten!),

I totally forgot the whole Myconid questline. I love helping them and have them dancing in the end - so wholesome. Plus Nere deserves to die, what a piece of utter crap.

Yup, I got all the smelling fire dialogue way too early when standing too close to fire could still kill my 7hp Tav. Waukeen's Rest haunted me for the rest of the game with everything useful I figured out that can extinguish flames, like throwing water barrels. I spent some of my first games in Act I just exploring, as I was still waiting for friends to join a multiplayer campaign that never happened.

Cheat code for fires: Ray of Frost. Any cold damage applied to a fire surface extinguishes ALL of it directly connected to the spot you applied cold damage to. I always have someone in the team that can cast it when looting the area.

It's also a bit of a lifesaver when dealing with a certain "damsel" in distress that's tied to some train tracks in the Lower City. .

Act 1: The Creche, it's my favourite for sure and that's in an act chockfull of activities and places and people I love.
Act 2: The Shadowfell, I'll never not be in awe of the music and visuals when
freeing Aylin, assuming I do free her that is.
Act 3: Anything Jaheira related is my jam, I love her. But I always look forward to 'finishing' every companion character's quest in act 3!

Maybe minus Karlach's, not too into Gortash's fortress... but I love Wyll's in Wyrmrock, Assy's in the Palace, Tav's in the House of Hope, Shart's in the Temple, Gale's in the other Temple, they're all highlights for me.
Maybe one day I'll have Tav side with Raphael... but gosh dang it the House of Hope and its ending is too fun!

The moment during the murder investigation when you sit down with Valeria and tell her what you have discovered.

I enjoyed doing the murder investigation immensely during my first two runs (I missed clues during the first) because it doesn't hold your hand at all. You have your objective and multiple ways to scrutinise your environment and that's it. It's like a little spark of the Myst experience. Unfortunately this thrill of puzzle solving only works once, so I am not sure if I can say that I am exactly looking forward to it. While I like it as a narrative, I also feel a little disappointed that I won't get the sugar rush of puzzle solving a second time. If that makes sense. That little scene with Valeria, however, I still adore. It's that hard-boiled crime moment when the tenacious PI sits down with the disillusioned cop in a seedy bar to discuss the case, played straight, just that the washed up cop is a roly-poly celestial being and a parody of Sherlock Holmes.

Cheat code for fires: Ray of Frost.

Yeah, finding out stuff like that later in the game reminded me of the quest so often. I'm not even 100% if I had Gale or Ray of Frost available when we got there. That's why I picked Waukeen's Rest from all the other ones I loved (or hated) and would love to do again. My best guess is that I tried to find a way to sneak into the Goblin Camp past hostile guards, but I can't remember exactly.

I might be wrong, but I don't think you can put out most of the fires in and around the building definitely while the zone is still active. Some just won't react to water or frost at all, others will just reignite after a while. At least I had that problem with the big smouldering patch that blocks the path to the Zhentarim hideout. If you take a nap after saving Florrick and the trapped man, the area becomes much saver to explore and you can extinguish more obstacles, as long resting after having discovered the area seems to progress it. The trapped man also seems to live on borrowed time once you have broken down the door, while before interacting with the room you seem to be able to take your time. Not sure about Florrick.

You're definitely correct. I should've specified.

Duly noted, thanks!
