Hi all,

I finished BG3 more than 6 months ago, and since them the game has obviously updated on PS5. I started a new playthrough and found a very annoying bug that is completely detrimental to the entire gaming experience.

Often, but not always, dialogue sound is skipped. It sometimes restarts the "cut scene animation" where characters speak, and then the audio becomes in sync. This happens on a per-answer basis (not sure how to better describe it).
Often the sound is completely lost for an entire scene in a dialog. You can imagine this completely ruins the experience and immersion.

I have not found any bug reports here about this. There are plenty of online results about this though. Two examples:

Note that this is NOT the legacy bug reported here: https://larian.com/support/faqs/audio-issues-ps5_106. The bug I am reporting here is a new bug since some patch(es) back.

Could some Larian support acknowledge this and that it is being fixed? Considering the above thread is quite old I do not have my hopes up, but it stops me from being able to play BG3 completely.

Had to create an account so, I can post in this thread for more visibility. I have same issues as you mentioned, to add more information I play coach coop on base PS5 installed internally (3D sound is off, I use eARC with Soundbar).

All below bugs can happen separately or all in once. Happens in most of dialogues.

1. NPC Dialogue animation just resets and it is super jittery.
2. No sound in dialogues
3. Sound delays in dialogues that don't much animations

This kills all the joy of the game and all dialogues are joke. Feels like I am playing beta version of the game.

Waited for over a year to purchase Baldurs Gate 3 in hope that there will be less bugs and it will be more polished smirk

I reported this bug a few weeks ago and it seemed to be something they're aware of.

However, they had apparently not heard about the bug where after playing for a while, some of your characters suddenly don't play voice clips outside of cutscenes anymore, and also stop playing a lot of other sound effects. Even though that bug has been there since launch, at least on PS5.

It is frustrating that there are so many bugs that hamper the experience and make it feel very unpolished, even after so long. You'd think they have the money to fix this stuff.

Been having the same issue for the last several times I’ve played. I almost always just put the console to sleep. Completely shutdown my PS5 for a minute or two and then rebooted the game and had no issues last night. We will see how long the issue stays resolved, but hopefully this info helps you out.

You only have to restart the game to fix it temporarily, but it always comes back.

Temporary or not, it’s worked for me so far. I’ve not had the issue resurface since my initial post. If it does come back, hopefully restarting the console will fix it again.

I can attest to that I also play couch co-op on PS5, but I am unsure and do not believe that matters, but adding for reference.

Shutting of the PS5 completely and then restarting usually solves it for a short while. What I have noticed is that it seems to come back if you reload (quick load) a game. So it usually works directly after the PS5 has been restarted, but the first time you reload something is is more prone to coming back.
However, it can still occur at times even if not reloading any game.

That is hardly a solution to frequently restart the PS5.

edit: I bought a PS5 pro now. It still happens, but much less frequently. Maybe the bug happens due to resource usage. But this is up for Larian devs to find out.

Addendum: I am disappointed in Larian that they do not monitor and reply to this subforum "Technical & Gameplay Problems". What is the purpose of us users and customers taking our time to write here if Larian have no interest in following up users threads. Disappointed to say the least.

I have this same issue! Me and my partner love this game to bits, we’ve clock nearly 400 hours but this issue is really immersion breaking for us. PS5 and PS5 Pro both have this issue. Audio starts a second after the animation starts and then cuts off early, or sometimes no audio plays at all. Has killed some really important moments and feels like we’re playing a broken build of the game (no mods installed btw). I get the feeling this is a bigger issue with split screen? That’s how we play it. Hope patch 8 sorts it but not holding my breath based on the sentiment in this forum frown This is mainly act 3, I don’t think we really experienced in act 1 and less so in act 2. Was hoping PS5 pro would fix it but alas.
