A longer epilogue would be great but I'm actually really happy we have this beautiful hug.

About the kisses, do you think they'll add a valentine day event ? I wasn't there last year, but they included new characters' kisses, right ? So, maybe ... ? Trying to keep hope xD

Also, I wish the photo mode could at least include hug and/or kiss poses. I don't think they did that already, I read some stress test reviews and haven't heard about those poses.

Yeah, the Valentine's day animations went over reeeaaal well last time...

Maybe we learn from the mistakes and leave intimacy alone for a while.

As I said, I wasn't there, I just read they add those kind of features in old patches.

There was widespread community drama over the animations and a lot of jealousy over why certain characters got more or better kisses and animations than others.

It's like a pre-school where if the teacher rewards the kids with ice-cream, instead of everyone being happy they got ice cream, some kids complain that they didn't get their favourite flavour or that some other kid got more marshmallows in their bowl.

Ah... sorry, I pressed where it hurts, it wasn't my intention at all.

I want players to enjoy their romances & support threads in positive ways.

We had the Valentine's thing last year, I don't think they are doing it this year but who knows? It's not a crime to want equal stuff for romance stuff, I just want spawn to have an extra kiss and for everyone to have a cute endgame one. Not sure if we will ever get it but I can only hope.

Let's move on and not derail the thread. Point is, it did not go down so well. Whatever people are asking for in regards to spawn Astarion in this thread is fine by me. I am more invested in other stuff, but it is better to make my case in those threads.

If that's the case, then don't diminish the level of insult inflicted on the players as a “Valentine's Day gift” last year by comparing them to “kids in pre-school” in that manner.

Honestly, I don't get why it's necessary to bring up old drama when someone is asking for one more kiss for Spawn.

Also, I'm not thrilled with the pre-school comparison. If this were pre-school, I'd have time for a nap.

So let's remember not to antagonize forum members nor belittle their points of view.

I’d encourage everyone keen to discuss all things Astarion on these forums to be very careful not to antagonise others and also to show that they won’t rise to provocation but instead can respond calmly or simply ignore and report.

Hi. I'm reading all of this and feel extremly bad. It happened because of my post. I'm sorry. I'm a recent player, started the game during october, loved it. I just registered here to encourage few suggestions I liked, this one included.
I don't know the history of this forum, I just asked a genuine question, I did not try to do, incite or say anything bad.

No need to apologize! What you said was completely valid, I hope they do give us something for Valentine's day but like I said who knows.

Also, I would like to add to what you said about photomode getting hugs and kisses, I have seen people testing out patch 8 get fairly close to what you ask so it may be plausible

I had planned to let this matter rest until after the patch since probably all intended changes have been made already. Still, because I am currently trying to finish my current run(s) before the patch and because the topic has been resurrected anyway, I thought I might add some image material of what bothers me about the spawn kiss which was added during last year's Valentine's Day patch.

First of all: I think this kiss is very adorable for shorty Tavs and nice to okayish for tall PCs and the slender mid-seized female frames. I used some magic in the kissing booth to provide examples:


It's for characters that are the same height as Astarion where it gets a little awkward. The weird half-squat they have to perform to have the right height seems unnatural and makes the pose seem out of balance, and the main frame of the kiss just doesn't have a good silhouette. While it's still somewhat adorable in its awkward dorkiness in camp clothing. It looks more and more weird the larger the pauldrons get and cloaks or musical instruments don't help the situation either.


I know that your animation team has probably had other things to worry about with all the poses added for photo mode, and I am aware that this is a niche problem, but it would be sweet if you could tweak the main frame of that kiss a little for slender males so it's easier on the eyes - and on the knees.

I also play a male Tav, he's a bit taller than Astarion (around +5cm) but it's like they're almost the same height honestly. I never knew the angle was better with a taller character (because I always play with the same character, I'm too attached to him). Thanks for sharing !

It seems the angle I have in my game mostly looks like the third pic you posted in your 1st spoiler tag, it's kinda ok, but I totally get it can be weird for smaller character (2nd spoiler tag).

Also, improving the angle in general would be nice. Now that I see all of this, I adore the second picture's angle, you actually see their faces, when I always only have Astarion's back in my game and just a part of my Tav's face (if only we had a free camera ;_;)
