There also seem to be subtle differences between the races. When I played around with disguise self, the female tiefling for example got on tip toes a little while the female human didn't (or I didn't catch it maybe) and some of the male models went much weaker in the knees than others. Maybe terrain also plays into it? I don't know, but it was fun to compare. I also don't want to complain too much about the animation because there seem to be enough people who really love it, and at the end of the day a little dorkiness is alright and I have kind of gotten used to it by now.
I just wish the framing was better. There are other kisses in which the faces are obscured (even in the other unascended kiss you mostly see the back of Astarion's head at one point and I do like that kiss as it is) but they are lovely scenes and don't make the mass of the character's back seem more important and prominent than the kiss itself. As someone previously suggested, it's such a long kiss, a more dynamic camera wouldn't hurt either. Again, I don't know how much work that even is and don't want to be too annoying about an Astarion kiss topic, I just thought to throw in some images for what at least a portion of this conversation has been about because it's not all the angles that are odd.
