This is an unlisted video on my Youtube channel. I have documented a short fresh run using Honor mode and reaching level 5 with all 4 subclasses of Warlock. All 4 have Pact of the Blade at 3, including Hexblade subclass which was noted in the Update 2, requires this level 3 choice to receive the level 5 Extra Attack from Deepened Pact.
This video is just a clip at the end of the streamed/documented playthrough to get to the point:
This is a stream for my members section but the stream itself was setup to casually (and sloppily) get to level 5 with 4 Warlocks on the Honor settings of the game. So that there is a full documentation available to show what steps I took. https://www.youtube.com/live/DrmWECDL-kA
Hexblade, and any other version of Pact Weapon's Extra does NOT appear to be working. I have currently no mods installed or in the directory. I am using a fresh re-downloaded version of the Stress Test copy of the game and I am playing on Steam/PC.
I hope this reaches the development team to help assist with resolving bug errors. I am not used to play testing and have simply tried to just document the consistent issue I have while using the Stress Test version I obtained from a kind viewer on my channel and asked if I would be interested using a bonus code to help give feedback and report issues like this one here. If you believe I have missed a crucial step in using the Pact Weapon Extra Attack feature, or more generally have questions to my testing, I am ready to help out and will check back in here for any responses.
I have a lot more feedback I would like to submit, and more importantly, I would like to see the viewers of a recent video of mine have their feedback in the comments section possibly be considered with some of the changes seen in the Update 2 of the Stress Test. Thanks for your time.
I did, and was able to do it, but the problem I found was that nothing showed up differently in the combat log, and it seemed to "unlock" the extra attack feature randomly, which remained "unlocked" until I respecced. I haven't been able to replicate it at all in Honour Mode so I haven't felt like I had enough to write an actual bug report.
Pertinent details...
Wyll(as companion) Level 5 Hexblade Pact of the Blade Shadow Blade Knife of the Undermountain King(auto dual wield attacks disabled)
I used Withers as a test dummy and it happened while he was Hexblade Cursed by the active skill(not as a result of being hit), alternating between which weapon has the Hexed weapon status. But not on the first attack, it took a few strikes. It worked with both weapons. It makes zero sense and nothing looked different in the combat log, so I don't know useful that is. I'm on xbox, btw.
I figured it out, got it to reliably work 100% of the time. Annoyingly stringent requirements, though
1: Honour rules must NOT be enabled. 2: You MUST select Pact of the Blade. 3: The weapon MUST be bound via Hexed Weapon or Pact of the Blade. 4: It's possible to attack with an un-bound weapon(bow), too, but if used first it will eat your entire action.
Balancing Hexblade and Pact of the Blade must be a nightmare. Without a native Extra Attack, Pact of the Blade is pretty much mandatory on a pure Hexblade character. With a native Extra Attack, Pact of the Blade is pointless for a pure Hexblade character.
I've already sent in a bug report detailing all of this.
I appreciate that. The ONE test I have not been applying OFF of Honor rule set. So, I'd imagine that IS indeed a bug that needs to fix but explains why people have been trying to help on my channel report it does work for some of them. Thank you for testing that and even putting in a bug report! I don't have to capability to report other than coming here on the forums and showing video.
I didn't even entertain the idea that Honour Mode could affect it, at first. But then I loaded an old save from when Honour Mode wasn't a thing in BG3 and I didn't understand the game(looking at my inventory and radials HURTS! XD), and there you go. I've been playing the stress test for about a month, and I didn't notice because I've been multiclassing my warlocks with martial classes! I wouldn't have noticed had I not seen your vids this week.
I do wish they'd extend extra attack functionality to non-bound weapons, though. I assume they're doing things this way so there aren't possibilities of unintended extra attacks for Pact of the Blade and Hexblade, but I would love to see bows gain that functionality too, for as little use as it would be haha.
I appreciate the response from you and the dev team!
Would you recommend me documenting other mechanical feedback as well? And if so, should I post them here or would you prefer a new topic on this subforum?
If you're encountering this in Patch 8 then for sure! We do recommend to forward any of these reports to our Support Team as it's the fastest way to get them to the development team
