There is a garrison near the Barracks, full of mindcontrolled guards.

There also must be a way to free them...

Good alignment - leave them and defeat one Black Ring Member (Imp, Josie, and was it Moriendor or Cornelius? They look so alike), they will be ok afterwards.

Evil alignment - kill them and get XP, no rep.-loss.

So they are free now!?! I killed all five BR-mambers... But... Kiya, you doesnt specified wich ONE must be defeated. May be it is that Imp, who tell me that he WAS BR-member, but I doubt he actually was their SPY, who breached the Council of Seven protection, allowing Demon of Lies enter it.

Hm... That the why imps got the power to defeat the Orcs.

Where he is hiding now?...

I never found out if you have to defeat all or just one of them to free the soldiers.

With defeat I mean this: meet them for the first time, before you enter the Wastelands. They are not killed the first time, just chased away.

Wait, you haven't met the imp? Did you free Zandalor? If so, you need to look into the Imp scrying statue, you'll see where he is hiding.

No, two days ago I killed Demon of Lies.

But I still think it was that imp (council member), who allow Demon of Lies (in shape of Janus... what a poor boy!) to enter the Council of Seven, and it was HE who rulled imps in war against the Orcs after Divinity Rithual.

And he is only one known BR-member, who didnt die by my hand...

(to the topic: I think when I ran nearby garrison _after_ collecting all concil members, thus all BR-members was chased away, guards still remained hostile...?... no, I didnt tried to open quarantine zone of the Poor Area, so they couldnt be hostile because of this).

Maybe you killed one soldier by accident? They should have been friendly - and opening/not opening the quarantine section plays no role.
So you didn't enter this section at all? Not even via the west side door?
Kiya

The imp was a council member afterwards - he changed sides

Have you noticed that when the guards are mindcontroled, they all start attacking you, but only 2 of them are "Hostile", ive reloaded and it seems that from all those guards only just 2 get hostile shown below their health bar... strange.

kiya&gt;&gt; Maybe you killed one soldier by accident?
Well... actually not just one :)... It seems explain things.

kiya&gt;&gt; So you didn't enter this section at all? Not even via the west side door?
No, yes, I enter via the west side door. I prefer lockpick at first, and if it fails ask someone to open or search for keys... At the end of game I got more than 10 keys that are remain unrequired (because lvl 5 Lockpick, I hope :).

kiya&gt;&gt; The imp was a council member afterwards - he changed sides
Changed ones - changed twice... I dont belief that imp. He even not explained WHY he switched his alignment (actually I dont belief in alignment switching at all!). He just said "Now I good" and I have to belief him? Anyway Kroxy survived... then why imp-spy was unable - I didnt seen his corpse.

And more: Duke was killed... no... he was destroyed and no legatee remains. Who became a new duke? Me?... :)

Is there any alternative endings?

Riftrunner, the next game, will explain a bit of the Divinity end.

There are no alternative endings, but I can post you Marian's link, he explains the end a bit. I have to look for it first, BRB <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

*sigh*
I would have never thought that the language of pure image is so hard to understand. We have to think about that in the future...

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

Ascension "Blessing" cutscene
After you got sacrificed by the council of seven your spirit awakes in a divine realms on an altar. Around you the ideas of the seven gods are manifesting. You can roughly separate impish, human, elven or orcish gods...
Everyone of them grabs into their chest and puts a small part of the heart into your weightless shape. After you received all blessing the in you is fully developed and so her wings grow and she flies up to the mortal plane where she descends as the reborn hero into the wastelands.

Extro scene
You see the demon of lies dying. In fact you see the mutiliated body of janus ripped into pieces and the leftover, the sword of lies, remains. It comes closer and tries to seduce the hero. The hero is tempted to take it but refuses and sends it back to hell away from the mortal plane.
Then the hero hears the cries of the baby. Knowing that it is the lord of chaos inside the child he/she draws the dagger to kill it. In the hero's moral struggle to kill a neborn innocent child the scene fades out.
Much later you see the hero walk out victorious into the swamp area. He carries something. Loot? The child? You don't know for sure...
Somewhere on a distant hill Arhu and Zandalor watch you coming when suddenly the statue you lifted up in the sky while entering the katacombs of aleroth comes down finally...(side joke, nothing more)
