Additional items:
* There is no gold.log or log.txt file in the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\Shipping' folder.
* For sfc /scannow the results were Verification 100% complete. Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
* There were no changes after running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth.
* Other DX11 games I have previously played without incident include Deep Rock Galactic, every listed Battlefield game (including BFV within the past year), Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, Civilization 4/5/6, etc. This is the only game I have experienced the audio issue with.
There is one interesting clue, though: Changing the audio volumes in the game options affects the volume in the splash screen video. If I lower master volume in game to zero, the splash screen video is silent! Also if I set Cinematics to very low, the splash screen is made quieter accordingly. So the Cinematic audio control DOES work, as does Master. Just for some reason, we aren't getting the rest of the sound once in-game, e.g. the Credits have no audio regardless.
It's all a bit silly. I've had this game for years, never played it, now I finally have time and my wife is willing to play it with me - and I can't get the sound to work on a high-end system, and there's no clue as to why.
