In D&D5 multiple sources of advantage, resistance etc do not stack.

For example if you have multiple sources of advantage but one of disadvantage they cancel each other out.

Likewise resistance stays resistance and doesnt get any better. Unless you can gain immunity.

However as mentioned Warding Bond works on top of that.

Another ability that works on top of incoming damage is the Uncanny Dodge of Rogue 5+.

Theres also the Abjurer special ability, however that one gets better with Wizard level.

I hope this helps https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Resistances

(edit) Unless the source is specifically covering Baldur's Gate 3, why are all sources from elsewhere such as D&D5?! there is also quite a lot home brewn with Larian's own quirks.

Well, bcs that is original set of rules ... ergo, if you are talking about what things "should do" thats where you go.

The whole resistance stacking from other games never made much sense anyway.

An item that would usually be really weak, like 5% fire resistance, suddenly is uber because its the last 5% missing to 100% resistance.

I always figured it should be one applied after the other, so for example if you wear two items with 50% fire resistance, your resistance is 75%.

Thats of course easily doable on a computer, but not that easy in tabletop, which is why D&D, being optimized for tabletop, used the system described in this thread.
