I finished my DURGE run now. Choosing to kill the netherbrain. So the ending is then left open at the camp reunion. We don't know if Durge survives the night or not.
Then we get the scene in the "sanctuary" of the dead 3, where Withers banishes them. (Thou shalt trouble us no more)

I was wondering what would become of the Durge, if they survived the reunion night, when their "Father" disappears like that. Return to normal, or die , or become some kind of mindless husk ?

It seems to me that Durge had to be kept under constant control by Bhaal. Especially when they choose the prison, it seems clear that there always remains something of the original Tav locked up inside that wnats to be free. So when the control goes away, Tav may again be able to function independantly, free from the urge.

But perhaps there exists a canonical description somewhere in the forgotten realms literature, what becomes of Bhaalspawn , should their father perish entirely ?
