My, and other's, favorite mod Visible Shields is broken (this is the same mod found in the BG3 Mod Manager). The Mod developer has not been able to update it Patch 8, I'm posting in hopes someone will re-create the mod.

I'm not a modder and to be honest this should have been in the game without a mod but so it goes.

I second that! Instead of the Photo Mode bells and whistles, I'd rather have visible shields back...

I reported it to Larian because they changed some parameters and this mod does not work

Thank you for contacting us.

We are sorry to hear that you're having some issues with your mods after the Patch 8 release.

This can happen with mods as the mod author may need to make some adjustments to the mod to have it compatible for Patch 8. We recommend that you give it a bit of time, or you can try reaching out to the mod author via mod.io or their own method for communication.

In the meantime, we have left Patch 7 available on Steam and GOG, should you wish to revert back to Patch 7 while you wait. Please remember though that doing this will make your game incompatible with any players who have updated to Patch 8.

We hope that the mod issue is resolved by the author quickly and if you need anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach back out.

The mod author "Maximuuus" has stated that he can't find a way to fix the problem in the current version, so... maybe it's time to move on to something else with this mod.😰

Thanks for your report guys ,I did the same and the answer was something like "try again". But nothing I tried is working, and a few othet modders already tried too


That's also something I tried. I tried to put shields on the hip AND to give them them "music instrument sheathed" property. Unfirtunately it doesn't work either. Looks like everything tag as a shield is now invisible no matter what properties you gave them.

Oh...You never Fix it even though the game has been on sale for two years and has undergone 8 Patch updates

Sorry this mod isnt working.
i had a look with Maximuuus and unfortunately no solution was forthcoming.

Maybe it will get fixed in the future....no guarantees though

Because the reason is Larian changed the shield display parameters

And there is no any scheme can let mod author make it display again in the current version

It's like you cut off someone's foot...Then tell others "Find him a coach so he can compete in sprints again"

Very disappointing. Was a great Mod, rather annoying that this was done on the "FINAL" patch. Wonder what the reasoning or lack thereof was?

Don`t Miss it Man～ Let Larian know we want [ Visible Shields Mod] , not [ Photo mode ]

This is also what frustrates me, this mod has 20,000 likes on https://mod.io/g/baldursgate3/m/visibleshield and 115,000 Unique DLs in https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/492 , but now so few people have complained about it being invalid QQ
