I didnt made such a thread because I dont like talking with myself, and the demand for such a thread seemed really low.
We know that one of the games will be science fiction, thus I expect different planets, and more than just three, and I dont really expect exploding barrels.
And we know it wont be D&D again. Possibly Larian will one day make another D&D game, but not in the forseeable future.
Yeah I also feel one of the games will be sci-fi. But I am curious about whether they will go with fantasy for the other game. On the one hand, I could see them saying they have their Divinity franchise for fantasy, and their BG3 game was also fantasy, so let's go somewhere else. But on the other hand, if the game is not a Divinity-based game, then I would wonder if they really want to deviate from fantasy as that is their bread and butter.
But also, are they creating new IPs, or are they using licensed existing IPs?
Lot's of interesting angles to ponder. For me, as I have repeatedly said here as a critic of BG3, if only Larian had named their BG3 game something else and not "Baldur's Gate," then I could've enjoyed it for what it was rather than be unhappy about what I wanted it to be. And I also am on the record as saying I really can't stand their Divinity setting. But I also believe Larian has some tremendous strengths when it comes to game design. So I am hoping for a fantasy-setting game that is neither D&D (we already know this) nor Divinity-based (fingers crossed).
