Counterspell has never worked for me against Blight and now I"m on patch 8 with no mods and it still doesn't. Other spells fail at random as well, like you said, but Blight is counterspell-proof. Although I'm sure if an enemy tried to counterspell ME when casting Blight it would work just fine.
