As of Patch 8, I've noticed the game sometimes switches back to the Windows Desktop (I'm still on Windows 10). Luckily, BG3 is not one of those games that immediately crashes once this happens, so I can just click the game logo in the status bar at the bottom of the screen and go back in. But it's annoying, especially when using the Windows game bar to record footage, as switching out of the game immediately stops the recording.

I'm not sure if this only happens when recording with the game bar, but I'm pretty sure I've had this happen when I was not recording, too. It only happens occasionally - about once per day, maybe - but it's a repeating problem.

This coincided with another change I observed: Whenever I launched the game, even though I had it set to full screen, it would start in a semi-full-screen mode that still showed the status bar at the bottom. I then had to click the BG3 logo in the status bar, which would take me back to the desktop / Larian Launcher, and from there click the BG3 logo at the bottom of the status bar again to go into actual full-screen mode.

For a while, it seemed like this second problem had already been fixed by now (EDIT: I stand corrected, it just happened again. The non-full-screen start only disappeared for a while in the meantime, with the game starting in full screen like normal, but now, I once again had the status bar at the bottom).

I noticed that the random switches to desktop mid-game started happening around the same time as this other phenomenon of the game starting in semi-full-screen mode. More importantly, the game starting in non-full-screen mode must be independent of the game bar, as I never activate the game bar before I'm actually in the game.

Has nobody else had this problem? I'm trying to figure out whether it's caused by the game bar or by Baldur's Gate III itself. The game bar is probably set up to stop recording automatically when switching to a different application, including the desktop. So the core problem here is that Baldur's Gate III randomly switches to desktop view at times.

As stated above, normally just once per day - today I had it happen repeatedly at the beginning of the recording, which is especially annoying mid-cutscene, because the cutscene keeps playing even while the game is minimised. One time today it was probably caused by a popup from my antivirus software, though. When Dropbox gave me a popup a few days ago that was visible in-game, I refused to click it, because I knew doing so would take me back to the desktop and interrupt the recording. Luckily, that popup didn't become part of the recording, as far as I can tell, because the game bar indeed only records within one application at a time.

It happens to me and I just reopen it. Was never a big deal, so I ignored it. I don’t record either…. That all I have,

I use the game bar fairly regularly ro record some fragments, but I haven't seen this happen.
The times that I switch to the desktop are when another background program (usually my backup) throws a popup screen, or when I inadvertently push the <windows> key instead of the <alt> key just beside it.
