It should theoretically work if you have it in your off-hand (This requires the Dual Wielder feat as staves are not Light weapons - This is also relevant if your chosen weapon is Rapier or Longsword as these also are not Light weapons and would require Dual Wielder feat to enable dual wielding)

Bladesong's requirements are only that you have the chosen weapon type in your main hand and no shield in the off-hand. Any other weapon in the off-hand still works.

I'll have a look see myself to confirm if things are funky... But it *should* function provided you meet the aforementioned bladesong requirement.

Edit: Just tested and it does appear that Bladesong Impeded occurs when holding any weapon that is not part of the "Training in War and Song" class feature.

Meaning that you can have a Dagger/Sickle/Shortsword/Rapier/Scimitar/Longsword in your off hand (Regardless of your chosen weapon) so long as you have your chosen weapon in the main hand (Rapier and Longsword require Duel Wielder feat). But any other weapon type does not work (Even if you have proficiency with it, such as Spears with Civil Militia or Staves from base Wizard)
