None of that sounds Honour Mode related.
Attacking the Strange Ox normally causes it to explode acid everywhere (Usually dealing a bunch of damage) and will aggro the Tieflings (Unless you do it after beating the Goblin Camp when all the Tieflings and other Oxes are lined up at the entrance)
At least from all my experiences, including as far back as before Honour Mode even existed.
