Aye... Much of the blame rests on Bioslop...

Original Bioware, with BG1, BG2, KotOR, DA:O and even ME1 was great and provided a lot of solid writing which earned them their fame and got the mainstream consumers on board.

Then came ME2, ME3, ME:A, DA2, DA:I, DA:V... Where these mainstream consumers were being fed mediocre or outright bad writing but still held onto the belief that "Bioware = Good writing" that the company's reputation was prior...

So we get the current state where people take new Bioware titles as a "Standard" for writing. To the point where people actually still claim that ME2 and ME3 were well written (Despite their many plotholes and retcons of established lore...)

Without any other other companies to take the reins as the new "Standard for RPG writing" (Especially given other mainstream companies like Betheslop and Ubislop not really doing any better with their horrendous writing...) we're left with people still going about with Bioslop levels of writing (Especially for "Romances") with the mainstream praising this level of slop because they don't know better due to not having experienced actually good writing from classic Bioware or games like Planescape: Torment.
