Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Eldritch Knight War Magic not compatible with Booming Blade?

I was having a weird interaction where I thought I was going crazy. I respec'd Lae'zel to be an Eldritch Knight. At lvl 7, she gets War Magic, which states that she can make a weapon attack as a bonus action after casting a cantrip. I do have a mod running extra spells, so it could be a mod issue. But when she uses Green Flame Blade to attack, she seems to lose her bonus action for no reason. I'm wondering if the game is seeing casting GFB as the trigger for War Magic, but then the attack that goes with it is using the bonus action at the same time. So, instead of getting a benefit, it is actually sucking up her bonus action for no reason. One of the spell mods I'm running is a Mystra's extra spells, so there's a "Mystra's Booming Blade" that replaces the regular "Booming Blade", and that seems to make the problem even more pronounced. She can actually lose her Extra Attacks as well as the bonus action if that hits.

As far as losing the Extra Attacks, that is because Mystra's Spells uses RAW version of Booming Blade. Whereby it doesn't trigger "Extra Attacks" because that only occurs when you use the normal "Attack" action rather than casting a spell (Even if said spell does involve an attack like Booming Blade)

As far as losing bonus action, this most likely is due to jank in how such things are implemented, where the attack involved in the spell is being counted.

When using Larian's Homebrewed Booming Blade, it will function with both Extra Attacks and War Magic. Enabling you to Booming Blade > Extra Attack(s) > War Magic Attack.

Thanks! I can respect to use the regular Booming Blade instead of Mystra's, I guess. Besides, I didn't quite understand why the Mystra's spell mod copied spells where, by the description, at least, it doesn't seem to be any different. I was just picking them over the vanilla for the flavor.
