I'm not a forgotten realms scholar, so I pick up the lore I need for the game from various internet sources.

It struck me that the Dark Urge is a dragonborn race as defailt and in all the Larian art. Isn't that strange ? I gathered that the Urge was created by Bhaal from a part of his own essence after he returned from "death". I would therefore expect that the Urge would have the same race that Bhaal had when he was still mortal. I didn't find any reference anywhere that Bhaal had draconic ancestors.

What do you think, is Dragonborn a logical choice for the race of Urge ?

Because Larian wanted to show off dragonborn but the origins were already done, some like Helia and Minsc had already been scrapped so they made their half finished origin a dragonborn which makes little sense from the story.

Back in BG 1 and 2 the Bhaalspawn were ever race, anyone and everyone could be a Bhaalspawn. They did not have dragonborn back then but they'd have had them be a Bhaalspawn too.

Due to that lore wise the dragonborn makes sense.

Hardly.
In the times of Bhaal dragonborn did not exist at all. And even now they are extremely rare and made up mostly out of people from a single city state from a world without any gods and a tiny handful of holy warriors of the platinum dragon.

They stand out so much that commiting a murder as a dragonborn is very easy to track back to them if there is any form of witness or evidence.

Likewise it makes 0 sense that dragons, especially evil ones, take the form of dragonborn because of their association with good dragons, the race being only 100 years old and some probably not even knowing that dragonborn exist and dragonborn generally being very hostile towards dragons.

Yes, but these Bhaalspawn, if I understood correctly, were born from a mortal, impregnated by Bhaal. So they could indeed be any race, from mother's side.
But in the BG3 time all the Bhaalspawn were dead. Bhaal resurrected Sarevok, who spawned Helena and Orin. But the dark urge had no mother but was created solely from Bhaal's essence. So I think it should have old mortal Bhaal's race per default.
