Ok, here's some more facts of this run. I did go to the mountain pass before resolving the Grove. However, I used the Karlach trick, where you pick her up, go up to the mountain pass, she gets a ! over her head where she'll whine go back to the Paladins. Don't click on her.
Do whatever, go to the pass, then click on her in camp, and she'll ask again, reassure her, then go bop the Helldusk Armor cheese, and the Grove missions are not closed out.
I've done this several times with no problems. This time was no different, Grove was still a thriving, happy community.
One more fact, I never did go down to the Worgs to save Halsin, later went down there, so sad what was in that cage. I had realized Halsin might not be saved as I think his quest is one of those closed out by going to the mountain pass. But it should still be open along with all the others, unless killing the 3 goblin leaders first separately closes out his quest. But I don't think that's the case, either.
