There is another side of Aerie's personality I feel never really got explored in BG2, as I think a lot about her was always buried under layers of trauma. But a person's choice of deity says a lot about them, and Aerie did choose a god of wandering, curiosity, and mischief... What I'm positing is that a more playful and mischievous Aerie wouldn't really be her growing into a new person as such, but actually the original person returning.
