Version number PC, Xbox, Mac: 4.1.1.6995620
Version number PS5: 4.1.1.7023236

Hello folks,

We’re dropping by to serve up a small hotfix today!

Focusing mainly on improving performance, this update should resolve some crashes on consoles and address certain issues on the Steam Deck. We’ve also gone ahead and bumped the default Upscaling Type from FSR 1 to FSR 2.2 on Steam Deck Native, which should result in sharper visuals overall.

We hope you’re all staying warm during sweater weather (or cool during sensible thin cardigan weather in the southern hemisphere).

Check out the hotfix notes below!

FIXES
Crashes and Performance
  • Fixed a freeze on PS5 that could occur when pressing L2.
  • Fixed a crash on Xbox on the host's end when a client leaves a multiplayer session.
  • Fixed a crash on Xbox on the client's end when suspending the game while loading into a multiplayer session.
  • Fixed a crash on Steam Deck Native Build and Mac that was sometimes caused when saving the game after crafting.
  • Fixed a potential crash on Mac on the host's end during cross-play.
  • Fixed some potential crashes on Steam Deck during cross-play.

Steam Deck
  • Bumped the default Upscaling Type from FSR 1 to FSR 2.2 to improve sharpness on Steam Deck Native.
  • Fixed a bug causing external controllers to stop working on Steam Deck Native when you use the 'Switch to Desktop' or 'Return to Gaming Mode' functions.
  • Improved loading times in some instances on the Steam Deck Native build.
  • Fixed a crash on startup when the EN locale is missing on Steam Deck.
  • Improved VRAM consumption on Nvidia GPUs.

The game now crashes directly for desktop for me after this update. I am sure it's the update, as I played the game in the wee hours of the morning and everything was fine. The game now loads to 100% and then before it gets to the menu screen, crashes.

*Editing to add

The issue is that this update seemingly breaks script extender. I was able to get past the loading screen by removing it, but I can't play any save I have as they all rely on it. I have no idea if this update also breaks other mods, although I'm assuming WASD is probably also impacted.

I am having the same problem now. Furthermore, I even removed all mods, including native mods, and it still happens. Something in hotfix 35 broke script extender somehow! frown

The issue seems to be fixed as of the last 20 mins as Norbyte has updated it already, because they are amazing. I genuinely hope that future hotfixes don't break it as previous ones have, or there is at least some form of internal testing to give users/Norbyte a heads up that it will be broken.

Anyway, enjoy your game now smile

ScriptExtender should now be updated to v29. If you were experiencing crashes, please try updating to this version of ScriptExtender and check if they persist!

We are unable to load safe games produced after hotfix 35 on steam PC

We can load a safegame produced with a previous game version, but each newly produced safegame after that will be anuable to load past 75%. This will result in an imidiate crash to desktop.

We are running BG3 without any mods.

bug hotfix 35 no mods
when you break your oath it still shows your level as 1 more than it should
a minor bug that sorts itself out and returns to correct level once the splash screen ends

The option to give Gale the Necromancer of Thay book is still missing. He also has some missing dialouge about it. Was there the first time I played the game on Patch 5 and gone on subsequent patches.

Greetings,

The loading issue mentioned in this thread still persists for me and some players at steam thread (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/3/694246174784406743/).
I my self tried few things like clearing cache, disabling cloud save and so on, i believe other people have tried some things too.

Could you, please, clarify if this issue is aknowledged and in-work. Are there any ETA for next patch/update attempting to solve this?

Thanks in advance

Seconding fylimar’s request.

Would you consider taking a look at this? It shouldn’t require any new voice recording - the necessary lines already exist in the game files; they just need to be referenced correctly.

Thank you for considering it.

There was an update yesterday on the Mac with a build number of 7151330. Is there any chance we can get a changelog or there was no user-facing change?

Has anyone heard an update from Larian on when the 'Hotfix' is going to get a Hotfix? My save on PS5 is now unplayable after running smoothly since conception. FPS drops like crazy until it crashes like 3-5 minutes later.

I really, REALLLYYY wish they would stop adding to this game as it is doing more harm than good.

Wait what ?

Cant you disable updates for a game on console ?

That would be a fundamental misdesign of the console though.

Why does GoG already have the followup version but there is no thread for it in this forum ? GoG is usually slow.

the post was made in this forum under the heading "Corrupted Save File fix"
https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=960648#Post960648

its not listed as a hotfix [even though it actually is] and there are no notes on changes because its a back end i.e, their sever patch

yes Playstation has known sync issues with it and that sucks to be you if you run into them but on the whole this patch was a good thing... if pushed out the door untested

I disabled auto update but it did so anyway somehow frown

For clarification, are you saying that GoG has the follow up version as in a fix to these issues from the recent hotfix?

I really wish Steam could do that, but unfortunately it can only roll back to "relesae_patch_7_hf3" mad

Let us play the game, while you work on the next Hot Fix.
It's been 10 days since the patch that broke the games for so many people.

First time playing a new game of BG3 since the Feb update, and a few hours in I'm starting to get horrible lag/stuttering/frame issues. I didn't know about this bug or I wouldn't have updated. I feel like I should have bought the game on GOG so I could roll back patches, but this is the first time I've seen an update cause more problems than it fixed...

Does Larian *know* there's an issue? Have they told us if they're working on it? It's been 10 days, so I'm sure they know, but some communication would be nice. Would just like to know if I should uninstall the game and go get it on GoG, or if it'll be fixed in the next couple of days.

I'm pessimistic about this. It took them nearly four months to "fix" the corrupted save issue, without any explanation or temporary workaround provided. Who knows if the next hotfix will come, or when it will arrive.

Yeah, it's pretty depressing.

If they're working on a fix, I would at least like to KNOW.

Guess I'll try social media, since we're not getting any responses from Larian here.

A few weeks ago I posted a bug report and support has told me that the team knows of these issues and they're working to resolve them, it's just a matter of how long they take.

Got a similar response to a bug report I filed yesterday. Would be nice if they gave a heads-up to the public instead of staying silent unless you reported a bug.

Two weeks since they broke their mega-blockbuster game, and still no public news on it?

... it is broken ?

And I would assume that most people at Larian are no longer working on BG3, but something new and exciting.

In February, they released a hotfix that made the game unplayable on my machine, and the machines of many other people. They have said they are "aware" of the problem in private responses to bug reports, but they haven't made any public announcements or given any indication on when it will be fixed. Like I explained just a few posts above the one you clearly read?

I had to go to GOG and buy the game again so I could choose to only install up to the previous hotfix, in order to start a new game and play it again.

Larian - please roll back hotfix 35. Act 3 is now unplayable even for non-modded games (lag, crashes, etc.) but for modded games it won't even load from saves.

BG3 still generates strong revenue for them. If they aren't going to support it, it is time for the community to start leaving poor reviews they notice the revenue hit.

Yeah, I had to post a 'do not recommend' review, considering I can no longer play the Steam version of the game.

They really need to address this publicly instead of just staying quiet on it.

Hey all, thanks so much for your patience while the team investigated this issue. A new Hotfix has now gone live that should address the crash and performance issues. You can find more info over here: https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=960877#Post960877

Hi Salo, thank you for the update.

I hope that it worked for most people, because it did not at all for me. The game loads but it's incredibly slow. I even desinstalled and reinstalled the entire thing before the new patch so that the patch would act on a completely fresh install. I can't even properly create a new character. I've tried opening a new ticket, but the Bug reporter is saying that the "captcha failed" although there was no captcha request at all.

I'm not sure what is broken, but if Larian could release a step-by-step troubleshooting guide for the players I'm sure it would be of great help. Your team probably has access to aggregate reports that we mere mortals don't, and we are left trying to fix the issues in the dark.

Oh well.
