Apologies for this being loooong, but I want to provide as much info as I can to maybe help in getting someone to figure out what happened.

I am in my second playthru, and first as Durge. I didn't have any mods at all until deep into Act 2 of my first playthru. I didn't have any issues in that playthru, but I've now had 2 this time. Here are my Mods:

The first issue is that the Midas Touch mod makes it so that you can't have the Booming Blade cantrip as it takes its place. I didn't know that until it was too late, or I would have deactivated it before this playthru.

This playthru is more of a test, and also to do some things that I didn't do the first time. The big thing is to try to recruit Minthara. I ended up agreeing to help her attack The Grove, but then betrayed her, wiped out her forces, and knocked her out. After that, Halsin showed up. I also freed Volo and he went to camp. Of course I got Scratch around the time I recruited Karlach. So, Scratch, Halsin and Volo have all been at camp for a time.

I'm in the Underdark, and pretty much did everything before going to Grymforge. I took the boat to the forge, avoided the fight on the water, and go to Grymforge and starting exploring. I found the hidden stash under the glowing rock, and then fought the Ochre Jellies. I didn't notice that when I got to Grymforge that half my team wasn't with me, so like a dummy, I saved over the “main” file. It wasn't until the battle that I noticed Karlach, Wyll and Gale were all missing. Turns out, they were back at the dock and never got on the ship. When I went there, they were invisible. I looked it up, and it seemed like it's a bug with the Party Limit Begone mod, and to fix it you have to send the companions in your party back to camp, then go back and retake the ship to the Grymforge. That seemed to work ok and I got Karlach, Wyll, and Gale all back.

This is where things went bad, and the second mod issue popped up.

I went to camp to get the others who I had sent back, and suddenly I see Halsin, Volo, Scratch, and 2 of the 3 Hirelings all dying. One Hireling kinda survived, but was down on hands and knees and suffering and had a weird symbol over her head that was kinda like an * but not quite. I had to heal her and that made it go away. The other Hireling I had to have Withers rez. I tried reloading several times and every time Scratch, Halsin, Volo and 2 of the 3 Hirelings died (sometimes both Hirelings actually died, sometimes not.)

I've seen some posts about how if Volo and Scratch died they're gone for good, and Halsin only if it's before he officially joins the group in Act 2. So yeah...my little doggo is gone which is a HUGE bummer. I don't really care about Volo being gone, but it's odd. And now, Halsin's entire storyline is gone.

Does anyone (especially a Dev) have an answer as to what went wrong and how to prevent this in any future playthru? Thanks in advance.
