I first noticed this issue when I was coming back from the Iron Throne. After the cutscene of you getting into the submersible, upon reaching the loading screen back into the Lower City my game will crash. However, I am still able to load my game when I was still within the Iron Throne, and only when I leave does it crash. Upon testing my various other saves, I have realized that loading saves that were still within the Lower City prior to the entering the Iron Throne would still cause the game to crash.
Surprisingly, all of my saves before entering the Lower City and few of my first saves within the Lower City (near the entrance and barely anything has been explored) are all still loadable. If I go back and make a new save at the same location of my other saves that causes me to crash, loading the new save would also cause my game to crash. So therefore, I think it has something to do with loading into the Lower City that is causing my games to crash.
My game is indeed modded but everything has been working fine up until now.
I am not sure what is causing this and I have tried many remedies:
- deleted old saves (read somewhere too many saves causes instability)
- redownloaded my mods
- redownloaded BG3
- changed mod order
- used another device
- verified download on Steam
- updated drivers
