I just hope we get at least one conventionally attractive male and female available as companions and romance options. I'm fine with more niche options being present for those that like them, provided that it does not come at the expense of what the majority of people are attracted to.
I hope Larian are well aware of the fact that whilst certainly very vocal, those who are interested in romancing non-human and non-elven companions are very much a minority. One that should not be neglected, though certainly not given the majority of attention either.
In other words, variety can only truly be the spice of life if it works with rather than against more conventional options.
No one in this thread has even brought up romance or attraction. So I don't understand why you are coming after "those who are interested in romancing non-human and non-elven companions". People have talked about variations in terms of concept, design, party mechanics and more non-romantic relationships or companions that are not primarily love interests.
I don't think you need to worry that there won't be a conventionally attractive companions available to romance. It is more or less a foregone conclusion that there will be, which is why many of us are interested in talking about things that we don't already assume will be included.
