- At least one conventionally attractive male character in a physical role, particularly a handsome knight. Clean shaven, fairly serious and duty driven, yet open to forming a deeper bond over time. I really disliked the subversion in Baldur's Gate 3 in regards to the amount of female characters in physical roles. I thought it was very strange, especially, when Astarion and Gale had their muscles reduced in a post patch launch but Karlach remained untouched.
I don't understand this complaint. Wyll's a conventionally attractive human (as long as you let him fulfill his quest to hunt Karlach), he's super handsome (by far the best-looking of the male companions, IMO, and there are only a couple of the NPCs who are more handsome than him, like Dammon), and he fulfills a very physical, heroic, knight-like role (you can always re-class him to a fighter if warlock is too "magicky" for you). He's clean-shaven, serious, duty-driven, muscular, forms a strong bond over time, etc. Basically everything you're asking for.
It makes sense to reduce Gale and Astarion's muscle levels. Personally, I think they didn't go anywhere far enough; Gale should have been more pudgy and Astarion more skinny to better for their backstories; Gale's spent the last year wallowing in depression and Astarion's been starving for 200 years. Their prominent abs are super eye-rolling — whereas Wyll's abs make sense because he's been running around as the Blade of Frontiers for several years when we meet him. Likewise, it makes sense for Karlach to remain muscular given she's a strength-based barbarian and has been fighting in the Hells for years.
