Hello everyone.

I have been playing BG3 for three days now but is so laggy and crushes on my Mac that makes an impossible experience. It gets stuck and in the middle of the battles I can't end turns, I can't pick up loot, the characters move slowly, end the game or do nothing at all.

Any suggestions to maky my experience smoother? Or there is no other change and I have to buy a new mac thst runs this game?

Advice will be very appreciate it.

Have a lovely evening.

The game is very demanding, mind me ask what kind of hardware your Mac runs with across the whole system?

Just to get that out of the way but largely the game's performance is not ideal for Mac since introduction of patch 8 for the game, sucks that Apple isn't doing any valve-like approach.

Of course.

MacBook Pro, 13- inch, M1, 2020, 8GB, macOS Tahoe 26.2

I hope this is enough for your answer. Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you for your help.

When you got this Mac, did you buy it with this version or you upgraded to it? (not like it matters a huge deal)
If you ugpraded you might run into noticeable performance regression which will be noticeable on high demanding games, but largely issue is that the game is not optimally optimized in my opinion with patch 8 in mind.

Kinda ironic how the game ran much better during the beta version of the game but a lot has changed since then, I am no computer expert so I don't know what I can say to be extra helpful but hardware wise you should be fine to run the game on medium settings, but no more than medium as you are kinda meeting the absolute minimal system requirements.

16 GB of RAM is preferably with (M2/M3/ M4) or a more dedicated graphics hardware if you wanted to play with higher settings, specially considering its only partly optimized and hotfix 30 helped but not entirely across the board.

Unless you running into those performance issuse with medium settings already, I'm not sure what else to do than suggest sending a report to Larian via the bug report formate, maybe someone with more expertise with Mac can suggest something. frown

I bought the oldest version; this one, with the Tahoe 26.2 version, is an updated one.

Medium settings, how do I change that? What I have done is to play the game on a Windows version (so basically not full screen), and also deleted all my auto-saves and turned off the auto-save option. I also tried combinations from Reddit on Termina, but made an error, and some didn't recognise.

Once I set up medium settings, I will try again, and if there's a problem, I will send a message to Larian asking for advice.

Thank you for teaching me. I really appreciate it.

To change graphics settings in Baldur's Gate 3, open the main menu, select options, then video, where you can manually turn certain specific settings between low and ultra or going by their preset slider.

Reducing crowd density, fog and shadows can significantly increase performance, specially when you react to Act 3.
